The Isle of Wight is a wonderful place to holiday - brilliant scenery, beautiful sandy beaches and boasting the most sun in the UK!  Everywhere is close by as the Island is only 27 miles long but the West Wight has so much to offer that you may not wish to leave!

Compton Bay with its long, sandy beach, popular with families and surfers alike is a ten minute drive away. An early morning walk, looking for driftwood or fossils is wonderful as is barbequing on the sands until it gets dark. The skies over the Island are famed for their low light pollution and star gazing is popular. The Dinosaur Isle run geological walks over Compton to show dinosaur footprints and casts, well worth booking in advance. The gentle, sandy beaches of Colwell and Totland are a ten minute drive to the east, they are justly popular, particularly for spectacular sunsets. The historic harbour town of Yarmouth is three miles away, the trail for which is reached just over the bridge next to Hill Cottage. The River Yar runs from Freshwater Bay to Yarmouth, flowing just past the bottom of the garden and provides a rich nature reserve from the south to the north of the Island. We have many visiting birds and one of the last places in the UK to see red squirrels. Yarmouth itself is a beautiful town with many individual eateries and shops. Newtown Creek Nature Reserve is six miles away with lovely walks, a bird hide and information centre.
